Niepoort Pisca Vintage Port 2007

A 2007 Vintage port from Niepoort, made in the Douro valley in Portugal from grapes grown in small quantities at Quinta Pisca. It follows traditional winemaking and spends a limited time in cask before bottling, which keeps the freshness of the fruit. The colour is deep and intense with violet reflections. The nose offers ripe plum and cherry, with chocolate, spice and a light touch of tobacco. On the palate the sweetness is balanced by fresh acidity and well-integrated tannins. The long finish carries dried fruit and exotic spice. It suits the end of a meal with mature cheese, chocolate desserts or nuts.
