Niepoort Ruby Dum Port

A Ruby port from Niepoort, made from old vines in Cima Corgo, one of the three sub-regions of the Douro. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented in lagares, the traditional concrete tanks, where treading is still done without machinery. The port matures for about three years in large vats, giving a Ruby that can be enjoyed straight away. Deep ruby in colour, it smells of red cherries and plums. The palate is fresh but warm, with a clear alcoholic note, and it fades slowly with a mineral background.
