This is a 2005 Vintage Port from Niepoort, made in Portugal's Douro valley. It comes as a case of six bottles.
The colour is a deep ruby with hints of brick at the rim. The nose is complex, with ripe plums and cherries alongside chocolate, sweet spice and a touch of tobacco.
On the palate it is full-bodied and structured, with alcohol and sweetness in balance and soft, velvety tannins. Vanilla and pepper run through the ripe fruit, leading to a persistent, aromatic finish.
