Nikka Coffey Grain Japanese Whisky (75cl, 45%)

Nikka Coffey Grain is a Japanese single grain whisky, bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle. It is distilled mainly from corn in Nikka's traditional Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo Distillery and matured in re-filled, remade and re-charred American oak. Nikka first released it in 2012. It is the grain whisky that forms the backbone of the house blends, here bottled on its own. The Coffey stills were installed in the 1960s, and their less efficient running keeps the heavier flavour compounds. The nose offers vanilla, fresh corn, tropical fruit and citrus peel. The palate is creamy and silky, with caramel, toffee, banana bread and coconut, and the finish is medium-long with soft oak and vanilla custard.
