Nikka Coffey Grain is a Japanese grain whisky made mainly from maize and distilled continuously in a Coffey still. The Nikka name goes back to Masataka Taketsuru, who studied and trained in Scotland before founding the Yoichi distillery in 1934. The nose is sweet with vanilla and oriental spices, opening into bitter orange, curry and cardamom. The palate is sweet, rich and full-bodied. The finish is of medium length, recalling maize and cask wood.
