Nikka Coffey Malt (75cl, 45%)

Nikka Coffey Malt is a Japanese whisky from the Miyagikyo Distillery, bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made entirely from malted barley but distilled in Nikka's Coffey column stills, which places it between malt and grain whisky. It is matured in American oak casks, and the continuous distillation gives an oily, luxurious body with a silky, creamy texture. The nose is sweet, with butterscotch, ripe banana, baked apple and vanilla over a touch of spice. The palate is rich and velvety: caramel, milk chocolate, toffee and coconut over honeyed malt, with dried fruit and gentle baking spice. The finish is long and smooth, fading on sweet oak, butterscotch and delicate nuttiness.
