Nikka Discovery Series Miyagikyo Peated is a Japanese single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery in Miyagi, bottled at 48% in a 750ml bottle and not chill-filtered. It is Volume 1 of Nikka's Discovery series and is made solely from peated malt, a departure from the light, fruity, unpeated character Miyagikyo is known for. The release was limited to 20,000 bottles worldwide. The nose has gentle peat smoke over orchard fruit and florals, with a wisp of ash. On the palate smoke and fruit are balanced, the peat more elegant than aggressive, and the fruity character of the distillery lingers in the finish.
