Nikka From the Barrel is a Japanese blended whisky made from more than a hundred parcels of malt and grain whisky. After blending, it goes back into used casks for a few more months so the components settle together. It is bottled at 51.4% ABV.
The nose is malty and sweet, with pear and ripe fruit, woody spice, and hints of toast and coffee. The palate is rich and slightly oily, with wood, ginger, clove and a faint wisp of smoke. The finish runs from medium to long, with spice, old wood and a light bitterness of burnt toast or oak.
