Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year Old is an all malt blend of whisky from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, aged for a minimum of 17 years and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is named after Taketsuru, who is widely credited with bringing the art of distilling whisky to Japan. Taketsuru went to Scotland in 1918, working as an apprentice at several distilleries while studying chemistry at Glasgow University. He returned to Japan in 1920 with his Scottish wife, Rita, established the Yamazaki distillery near Kyoto in 1923, and left to start Yoichi in 1934.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
