Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt made from whiskies of the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. It is named after Masataka Taketsuru, who founded Yoichi in 1934 on the southern part of Hokkaido, and who learned his craft in Scotland before returning to Japan as a blender.
Sherry casks give the blend a marked spiciness, while oak casks add a subtle sweetness that runs from start to finish.
