This is a Japanese blended whisky from Nikka, made from more than 100 malt and grain whiskies from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. It is bottled at 51.4% ABV, a strength derived from 90 British proof.
The component whiskies come from a range of casks, including bourbon barrels, sherry butts and refill hogsheads. The blend was designed in 1985 by Nikka's blending team.
The flavour runs to butterscotch, orange peel, poached pears and stone fruit, with spice, earthy notes of coffee and tobacco, and wisps of smoke and sea salt. The finish is long.
