Nikka Yoichi – Discovery Non Peated (70cl)

Yoichi Discovery Non Peated is a Japanese single malt from the Nikka distillery on the island of Hokkaido, in a 70cl bottle. As the name says, it is made without peat, so there is no smoke in the profile. The spirit is distilled in traditional stills of a kind that recall Scottish ones, then matured in oak casks. It is usually described as soft and balanced, with fresh, floral notes, a little light fruit and a delicate minerality, followed by gentle vanilla and sweet spice from the oak.
