Nikka Yoichi Single Malt (75cl, 45%)

Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a Japanese single malt whisky made entirely from malted barley at the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, and bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru and still uses direct coal-fired pot stills. The whisky matures in a mix of new American oak and sherry casks. The nose combines coastal air, gentle peat smoke, lemon peel and ripe pear. The palate is malty, with apricot, cantaloupe, soft peat, baking spice and a faint saltiness. The finish is medium-long, with smoke, ripe stone fruit and a briny fade.
