Nino Negri Valtellina Superiore DOCG Grumello

A red wine from Nino Negri, made from Nebbiolo, known locally as Chiavennasca, grown on the terraces of the Rhaetian Alps in Valtellina. The Grumello subzone is one of five designated areas for Valtellina Superiore DOCG, noted for rich soils and ideal climate. The wine has a bright garnet red colour, with aromas of ripe red fruit, especially cherry and strawberry, floral notes, an elegant mineral vein, spice and a light vanilla note from ageing in wooden casks. On the palate it is balanced, with fine tannins and lively acidity, leading to a persistent, distinctly mineral finish. It pairs with meat dishes, game and aged cheeses.
