Nonino Grappa Cru Monovitigno Picolit

This is a grappa from the Nonino family distillery in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, where the family has distilled since 1897. It is made from the pomace of a single variety, Picolit, in artisanal batches. In 1973 Giannola and Benito Nonino distilled the pomace of one grape variety for the first time, creating the Monovitigno method that this bottling follows. Picolit is a scarce dessert-wine grape grown in small quantities in the hills of Friuli. The nose shows ripe apricot, golden apple, acacia honey, rose petal and candied citrus. The palate is warm and full, with honeyed stone fruit and delicate spice, leading to a long, perfumed finish with almond and dried fruit.
