This is a 10 year old straight bourbon from New Louisville Whiskey Co., known as NULU, released as "Nuclear Nectar". It was matured in charred new American oak barrels in Kentucky and bottled at cask strength, 73.3% ABV (146.6 proof), without chill filtration.
The proof puts it in the territory sometimes called hazmat bourbon, which is where the name comes from. It is described as a one-time, small-batch release with heavy oak influence, bold spice and deep caramel.
The nose offers molasses, burnt sugar, seasoned oak, peanut shell and cinnamon bark. The palate runs from dark toffee and espresso to leather, cinnamon red hots, toasted oak, char and a touch of dark cherry. The finish is warm and lingering, with barrel spice, brown butter and baking chocolate.
