Brunn Original Bio is a certified organic single malt, made entirely at the Nusbaumer distillery in Steige, in the Vosges, and bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Brunn means 'spring' in Alsatian, a nod to the local spring water.
It is made from organic malted barley and first matured in Burgundy white wine casks, then finished in Port, sherry and Margaux red wine casks. No colouring is added and it is not chill-filtered.
The nose brings dried fruit, candied raisins and dates with a warm touch of sherry. The palate is malty, woody and gently sweet, with mulled wine and stone fruit, leading to a long finish of gentian, clove and mocha.
