Oban 12 Year Old is the 2021 Special Release, a Highland single malt issued under the title The Tale of Twin Foxes. It was distilled in 2008, matured in freshly charred casks and bottled at 56.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is led by a soft maritime note of fresh seaweed, crystal salt and coarse black pepper, with a trace of smoked white fish. The palate is smooth and full, fruity and lightly lemony-sweet, balanced by a pinch of salt and the spice of the charred wood. The finish is long and peppery, with a gentle warmth once water is added.
