Oban 14 Year is a West Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Oban Distillery, founded in 1794 in the west coast port town of Oban. It is bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle.
The spirit is made from malted barley with a near-unpeated specification of about 1 ppm phenols, then matured for 14 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks. The distillery uses traditional worm tub condensers, with a nested double-worm design of two copper coils, one inside the other.
The nose brings fresh citrus, orange peel, pear and heather, with a little sea salt. The palate is full-bodied and malty, with honey, dried fig, toffee and baking spice. The finish is long, with oaky sweetness and orange zest.
