Oban – 15 Year Old Port Cask Finish Limited Edition (52.1%)

This is a 15 year old Highland single malt from Oban Distillery, finished in port wine casks and bottled at 52.1% ABV. It is a limited edition release and part of Oban's Maritime Journey series of bottlings. The whisky spent its first fifteen years in American oak before moving into port casks, which add dark berry fruit, plum and a little chocolate. Oban sits on the west coast in the harbour town of Oban, where it has distilled since 1794. The nose offers dark cherry, raspberry preserves, orange peel, sea breeze and soft toasted oak. The palate is velvety, with plum, honeyed malt, dark chocolate and gentle spice. The finish is long and warming, with red fruit, cocoa and a hint of smoke.
