This is a 15 year old single malt from Oban, a coastal distillery in the West Highlands of Scotland. It is a limited release finished in port wine casks.
The whisky matures for 15 years in oak before an additional finish in port casks, which adds fruit and sweetness to Oban's maritime character.
The nose is sweet dried fruit, orange peel and gentle sea salt, with a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate come berry compote, honeyed malt and coastal brine, balanced by port sweetness. The finish is long and warming, with spiced plums and oak.
