This is an 11-year-old Oban single malt from Diageo's 2023 Special Releases, which carried the theme "Spirited Xchange". It was finished in Caribbean pot-still rum casks and bottled at a cask strength of 58% in a 750ml bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
Oban sits on Scotland's west coast, and the rum finish layers molasses-rich tropical fruit over its sea-salt and citrus character.
The nose brings sea breeze, citrus and tropical fruit over dry spice. The palate is oily and smooth, sweet and fruity with a light salty thread. The finish turns steadily spicy.
