Octomore 02.2 Orpheus is a heavily peated single malt from Islay, bottled at 61% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes in a bright red tin.
The name and the tin both draw on the myth of Orpheus. The red stands for the flames of Hell, which he battled through to rescue his wife from the god of the underworld. To call something Orphic is to call it mystic, fascinating and entrancing, as Orpheus was believed to have discovered mysteries and purification from sins.
