Octomore 03.1 is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled in 2010 at 59% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit is five years old and was matured in American oak casks. Peating is 152 PPM, and 18,000 bottles were produced.
Peat smoke, iodine, seaweed and herbs run through the whisky. The nose has ripe pears, dried apricots and blackberries, with soft spice and cedar. The palate offers honey, roasted hazelnuts, toffee and dark chocolate in a creamy texture, and the finish is long, with vanilla and toasted spices.
