Octomore 09.3 is a 5 year old Islay single malt at 62.9% vol, with a phenol level of 133 PPM. It was made from 52 tonnes of malted Islay barley harvested in 2011 on Irene's Field at Octomore Farm, and matured entirely on Islay. The spirit went into 134 casks, mostly second fill: ex-American whiskey, virgin oak, Rivesaltes, Syrah and bourbon. Bottles are limited to 18,000.
The nose brings malted barley, sweet malted milk powder and a heather bonfire with black tea and lemon cake. The palate shows golden syrup, smoked tea, pear and peach Melba, and the finish carries smoke, toasted oak, rye bread and salt.
