Octomore 12.2 is a single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, in a 70cl bottle. The Octomore name is known for being made with some of the most heavily peated barley in the world. This edition was distilled in 2016. The whisky spent three and a half years in ex-bourbon casks used by Heaven Hill, Jack Daniel's, Jim Beam and Buffalo Trace, then a further 18 months in ex-Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes casks. The nose balances peat and earth with peach and apple. The palate is soft, with peat, vanilla, caramel and lemon zest, and it closes smoky and salty.
