Octomore 14.2 is a Scotch single malt distilled from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, malted to 128.9 PPM. Rather than first-fill bourbon casks, it was matured in a mix of Oloroso and Amarone wine casks, from Spain and Italy respectively, and the spirit is then brought together in French oak.
The nose has leather, prunes, redcurrants and malted barley, then toasted oak, cinnamon, green apple and black pepper, with dry, brooding peat smoke. The palate offers wood spices, smoked oak, roasted coffee, fruit cake and dried fruit. The finish carries smoked malt, smouldering oak and sea salt.
