Octomore 15.1 The Impossible Equation Super Heavily Peated (70cl, 59.1%)

Octomore 15.1 The Impossible Equation is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle at 59.1% ABV. It was distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley grown at Octomore Farm, two miles from the distillery, to a smoke level of 108.2ppm. The whisky matured for five years on Islay in first-fill bourbon casks and recharred ex-bourbon casks, a combination chosen to draw as much flavour and character as possible from the wood. The nose is caramel, vanilla sauce and sweet malted barley. On the palate come mango, banana, apricot jam, vanilla sauce and toffee. The finish is long, with earthy peat smoke, vanilla, sweet smoky wood and a mineral, maritime edge.
