Octomore 17.2 is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2021 and bottled at a cask strength of 59.5%. The malt was peated to 81 PPM and made with Concerto barley grown on the Scottish mainland. It is bottled without added colour and without chill-filtration.
The whisky matured in second-fill French oak casks that previously held red wine and bourbon, then finished in first-fill port barriques.
The nose combines peat smoke, sea salt and old leather with raisins, dark berries and clove. On the palate, earthy smoke and mineral ash meet blackberry, blackcurrant and malty sweetness, lifted by citrus zest and black pepper. The finish is long, dry and smoky, with dark fruit and a lasting salty note.
