Ohishi Sakura Cask Whisky is a rice whisky from Kumamoto, Japan, made under the guidance of Kazunori Oishi.
Each release starts in sherry or ex-brandy casks and is then finished in sakura, or cherry blossom, wood. The wood passes floral and lightly sweet notes to the spirit in a short time. It is sold in a 750ml bottle at 42.7% ABV.
On the palate, expect mild oak spice with crème brûlée, soft vanilla and a gentle cherry blossom character. The finish is smooth and lingering.
