Ohishi Sherry Cask 8 Year Old is a Japanese whisky from the Ohishi Distillery on the island of Kyushu, near the Kuma River. The distillery is a family operation founded in 1872.
The spirit is distilled from locally grown mochi rice and organic Gohyakumanishi rice, then aged for eight years in Spanish sherry casks and bottled at 40.8% ABV.
The nose brings sherry sweetness with oak, citrus, ash and dried dark fruit. On the palate come raisins, vanilla, citrus peel and oily roasted nuts, followed by a long, warm finish of cocoa, spice and dark fruit.
