Old Carter Batch 4-CA is a barrel strength straight bourbon from Old Carter Whiskey Co., founded by Mark and Sherri Carter. It is a California-exclusive batch bottled at 59.3% ABV, with 1,395 bottles produced.
It is blended from a very small number of barrels of bourbon sourced from Kentucky and Indiana, and is non-chill filtered.
The nose has caramelised brown sugar, vanilla bean, toasted oak, dark cherry and baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and viscous, with butterscotch, molasses, roasted nuts and caramel over dark fruit and peppery spice. The finish is long and warming, with oak, cocoa, sweet spice and barrel char.
