Old Carter Batch 5 Straight Rye Whiskey (75cl, 57.8%)

A barrel strength straight rye released in 2020 by Mark and Sherri Carter of Old Carter Whiskey Co. They selected and blended the barrels for Batch 5 themselves; the whiskey was distilled in Indiana and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky. Only 1,404 bottles were filled, each labelled by hand by Sherri. It is bottled at 115.5 proof (57.75%) without chill filtration, in a 75cl bottle. The nose opens with fresh herbs and mint, then caramel, butterscotch and a touch of dill. On the palate come caramel and butterscotch, baking spice, cinnamon and bold rye character. The finish is long, with caramel, cinnamon and mint.
