Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who previously built Kentucky Owl. They select mature Kentucky whiskey rather than run a distillery, and the barrel number, bottle number and strength are written by hand on the front label.
The nose offers caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and dark brown sugar over baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with dark fruit and warm spice, and the finish is long, with oak, caramel and sweet vanilla.
