Old Carter Single Barrel #54 is a 13-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled uncut at barrel strength in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is 58.85% ABV, non-chill filtered, in a 750ml bottle, and the barrel yielded 150 bottles.
Old Carter Whiskey Co. is the project of Mark and Sherri Carter, who sold Kentucky Owl in 2017 and began again under their own name. They select mature Kentucky whiskey rather than distilling it, and the barrel and bottle numbers are written on each label by hand.
Caramel and vanilla lead the nose, with brown sugar, toasted oak, dark fruit and baking spice. The palate is full-bodied, with toffee, dried fruit and cinnamon, and the finish is long and warming.
