Old Charter Oak Chinkapin Oak Kentucky Straight Bourbon (46.5%)

Old Charter Oak Chinkapin Oak is a Kentucky straight bourbon aged for nine years in barrels made from Chinkapin oak. It is distilled, aged and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery at 46.5% (93 proof). The staves were air-dried for two years before the barrels were built, far longer than the industry-standard three months. The bourbon then matured at Buffalo Trace, where the climate and changing seasons shaped the flavours from the oak. The nose shows cherries and spearmint. The palate is fresh herbs and honey, and the finish is warm baking spices and dark chocolate.
