Old Elk Master's Blend Four Grain is a straight bourbon from Old Elk Distillery in Fort Collins, Colorado, blended by Master Distiller Greg Metze. It is bottled at 52.95% ABV (105.9 proof) after six to seven years in new charred American oak.
The mash bill uses four grains: 51% corn, 22.5% wheat, 19% malted barley and 7.5% rye. The wheat brings softness, the rye spice and the malted barley sweetness.
Expect caramel and vanilla from the new oak, a soft wheated mid-palate, rye spice at the edges, and a long, warm finish with malty sweetness.
