Old Elk Slow Cut Blended Straight Bourbon (75cl)

Old Elk Slow Cut is a blended straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, distilled and bottled by Old Elk Distillery in Fort Collins, Colorado. It is made on the distillery's high-malt bourbon mashbill. What sets it apart is the Slow Cut proofing process, in which the strength is brought down gradually, over a period the distillery puts at ten times longer than the industry norm. The aim is to keep a barrel-strength flavour profile while giving the bourbon a smooth mouthfeel. On the nose it is described as warm baking spices, caramel, vanilla bean and toasty grain. The palate brings sweet malt, oak spice and brown sugar, followed by a lingering finish of charred wood and honeyed corn.
