Old Elk Slow Cut Wheated Bourbon Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 46%)

Old Elk Slow Cut is a straight bourbon whiskey with a wheated mash bill of 51% corn, 46% wheat and 3% malted barley. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle by Middle West Spirits in Columbus, Ohio. The whiskey is proofed using Old Elk's Slow Cut process, which is meant to preserve texture and flavour. The wheat gives a softer, rounder style than bourbons built on rye. The nose is soft, with vanilla, caramel, honeyed grain and light oak. On the palate come toffee, sweet wheat, vanilla cream and mellow toasted oak, leading to a warm, clean finish with lingering caramel.
