Old Elk Wheated Bourbon Single Barrel Cask Strength 7 Year Old (75cl, 56.1%)

A single barrel, cask strength wheated bourbon from Old Elk, aged for seven years and bottled at 56.1% ABV (112.2 proof). It was distilled by MGP and comes from the last of Old Elk's wheated MGP-distilled stock. The strength is high, but a few drops of water open it up, bringing out maple syrup, brandied cherries and a sweet oakiness. The nose is often described as creme brulee and peanuts with plenty of sweet oak. The finish carries that oaky sweetness for a full minute.
