Old Forester 100 Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 50% ABV. The mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged for around four years in charred American oak barrels.
The nose brings sweet coffee, chocolate, butterscotch, cherry and red licorice, with clove, nutmeg and dry oak. The palate is creamy, oily and medium-bodied, with caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, cherry and vanilla, balanced by rye spice. The finish is medium in length, with oak tannins, a gentle spice fade and a drying warmth.
