Old Forester 100 Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Louisville, bottled at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley.
The bourbon is aged in new charred oak barrels, kept in heat-cycled warehouses. It uses the same grain recipe as the brand's 86 Proof but is bottled at a higher strength.
The nose brings toasted caramel and cherry cola, with sweet oak, cinnamon bark and a little leather. The palate is full-bodied and spicy, with rye, roasted nuts, butterscotch and dark fruit. The finish is long and warming, with peppered oak and tobacco leaf.
