Old Forester 1870 Original Batch Bourbon (75cl, 45%)

Old Forester 1870 Original Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. It is the first release in the Whiskey Row Series and recreates the batching method George Garvin Brown used in 1870. Barrels come from three warehouses, each from a different day of production with its own entry proof and age, and are batched together and minimally filtered. The mash bill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. The tasting notes describe apple and mandarin with honey, clove and honeysuckle on the nose, crisp apple, citrus and shortbread sweetness on the palate, and a soft finish moving to bright oak and baking spice.
