Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 57.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made to recall the strength of whiskey produced during Prohibition.
The mashbill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. The bourbon is aged for a minimum of four years in new charred American oak barrels, filled at 100 proof. It is bottled at the strength it reaches in the barrel rather than being reduced, and there is no finishing or secondary maturation.
The nose brings cherry preserves, dark caramel, cocoa and maple syrup. On the palate come caramel, malty nuts, graham cracker and fudge, with green peppercorn, coriander and cedar. The finish is very long, with apple, toasted marshmallow, charred oak and chocolate.
