Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2004 is a Kentucky bourbon whose vintage was chosen by the warehouse crew from Master Distiller Chris Morris's list of candidates.
The barrels were aged for 8 years in charred white oak. They were filled in Warehouse L during a cycling period, when the warm, humid warehouse kept the barrel pores open and let the bourbon soak deep into the wood.
The nose is chocolate orange, oak, vanilla, spice and black pepper, with chocolate and maple syrup sweetness. The palate has dark fruit, cinnamon, milk chocolate, nutmeg and mint, finishing long, spicy and warming.
