Old Forester 2009 Birthday Bourbon is a Kentucky bourbon whose barrels were stored in Warehouse B and Warehouse J, on the fifth and eighth floors. The upper floors left the barrels exposed to strong summer heat, which gave a rich, complex maturation.
The nose offers layers of caramel with milk and dark chocolate and brown sugar. Brown spice and a hint of orange peel follow on the palate, and the finish is warm, rich and slightly sweet, with deep fruit, dark chocolate, a touch of coconut and soft oak.
