Old Forester 2011 Birthday Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon matured in barrels made from white oak sourced from Northern and Ozark regions. The Ozark oak is linked to rich fruit notes, the Northern oak to a deep, dark char.
The barrels were stored in Warehouses H and I, on the first and sixth floors, where they met extremes of heat and cool during maturation.
The nose is creamy toffee with dark caramel, chocolate, toasted hazelnut, leather and blackberry, with clove and cedar. Red plum, blackberry and citrus mark the palate, and the finish is big and warming.
