Old Forester 2026 Birthday Bourbon is an 11 year old Kentucky straight bourbon at 48.5% ABV. It is the 26th annual release in a series honouring founder George Garvin Brown, born on 2 September 1846.
This is the first Birthday Bourbon made with sweet-mash fermentation, with no setback from a previous distillation, a change Old Forester credits for its bright, honeyed character. It comes from 212 barrels matured together on the third floor of Warehouse B, using a mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley in new charred American oak.
The nose is typically described as baking spice, ginger, vanilla bean and honey, with a hint of cherry. The palate brings buttery caramel, tobacco and bright cherry, and the finish is toasted oak.
