Old Forester President's Choice Rye is a single barrel Kentucky straight rye, the first rye in Old Forester's President's Choice line, which draws on private barrel selections dating back to 1964. It was released in June 2025.
Each bottle comes from one hand-selected barrel, aged 7 to 9 years in charred American oak from Old Forester's own cooperage in Louisville. It is bottled at cask strength and unfiltered, from a mash bill of 65% rye, 20% malted barley and 15% corn.
The nose offers spiced syrup, baking spices, dark berries, leather and tobacco leaf. The palate brings dry charred oak, rye spice and brown sugar, and the finish closes with oak, vanilla bean and a peppery, herbal note.
