Old Forester Statesman Bourbon (75cl, 47.5%)

Old Forester Statesman is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 47.5% in a 750ml bottle, distilled at the Old Forester Distillery on Whiskey Row in Louisville. It uses the distillery's mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. The barrels are hand-selected from the warmer upper floors of the warehouses, where larger temperature swings encourage more contact between spirit and charred oak. The nose has oak spice, raw vanilla, clove and light caramel, with cigar wrapper beneath. The palate is caramel and honeyed grain, then cinnamon, leather and cedar, with berry fruit. The finish is warm, with oak spice and a soft sweetness.
